Manganese greensand is a specially processed medium for iron, manganese, and hydrogen sulphide removal. This premium non-proprietary filter medium is processed from glauconitic greensand on which a shiny, hard finite thickness manganese oxide coating is formed and is firmly attached on every grain by a controlled process.
Manganese greensand is catalytic by nature and is not soluble. There is no increase in the total dissolved solids of the treated
water, and it is not necessary to backwash manganese greensand every time the well pump starts up.

Manganite (greensand) is a black filter medium used for removing soluble iron, manganese and hydrogen sulphide from well water supplies. It also has the capability of removing radium and arsenic. It is processed from the mineral zeolite ( a light weight granular core) with a manganese dioxide coating is deposited on the surface of the mineral grains. Each grain has a finite amount of manganese dioxide coating it. Unlike in-situated media, there is no need for any extensive pre-conditioning of the filter media to try to apply a coating. The filter media is ready to install in the filter and be regenerated.

The manganese dioxide coating acts as a catalyst in the oxidation reduction reaction of iron and manganese. The media can be used in two methods of operation: continuous regeneration (cr) and intermittent regeneration (ir). The cr method is recommended for predominantly iron bearing waters with or without the presence of manganese, and the ir method is recommended for use on ground waters in which manganese predominates. Additionally, manganese greensand is listed under ansi/nsf standard 61 for portable water treatment components.

Indion NIP (Ion Exchange Resin) is a Type 2 strong base anion exchange resin in bead form having benzyl dimethyl-ethanol ammonium groups. Manganese Greensand is formulated from a glauconite greensand and is capable of reducing iron, manganese and hydrogen sulphide from water through oxidation and filtration. Soluble iron and manganese are oxidized and precipitated by contact with higher oxides of manganese on the greensand granules. The hydrogen sulphide is reduced by oxidation to an insoluble sulphur precipitate. Precipitates are then filtered and removed by backwashing. When the oxidizing capacity power of the Manganese Greensand bed is exhausted, the bed has to be regenerated with a weak potassium permanganate (KMnO4) solution thus restoring the oxidizing capacity of the bed.It is also used in iron removal filters.

What can AcuRO ANTISCALANT BALLS do for you?
Most natural waters cause damages in RO membranes, pipes, boilers and other installations. Some contain dissolved minerals, mainly calcium and magnesium salts. Such waters are referred to as hard water. 

Hard Waters form scale in membranes, pipes and boilers. This leads to a decrease in water pressure and an increased energy demand. Clogged pipes may have to be replaced. Heating coils may overheat and fail. 

Hard Waters are aggressive to metals and cause corrosion. Consequently the tap water turns brown. Leaks and burst pipes may be the results. 

AcuRO ANTISCALANT BALLSAcuRO ANTISCALANT BALLS prevent scale and stops corrosion. It utilizes the phenomenon that minute concentrations of polyphosphates are sufficient to inhibit the deposition of scale onto metallic surfaces. Because of their phosphate and silicate content, ACURO ANTISCALANT BALLS also inhibits corrosion by forming a thin protective layer on the metal surface. A concentration of 2-3 ppm is sufficient to achieve both of these effects. 

AcuRO ANTISCALANT BALLS will also slowly remove existing scale in old pipes if it consists of brown scale, i.e. ironoxide. Hard scale, i.e. calcium carbonate cannot so easily be removed by ACURO ANTISCALANT BALLS. Here the advantage is again that ACURO ANTISCALANT BALLS will prevent further scaling up. Experience shows that scale and corrosion is not only found in galvanized but also in copper pipes. Even in plastic pipes one can find scale and deposits. 

As a rule of thumb one can say that 1 mm scale on the heating coils of a boiler, increases the energy cost by 15%. ACURO ANTISCALANT BALLS consists of 100% active substance. The use in tap water and other types of fresh water at the prescribed dosage is inoffensive.

Triclosan is an antibacterial and antifungal agent. It is a polychloro phenoxy phenol.It is a white powdered solid with a slight aromatic/phenolic odor. It is a chlorinated aromatic compound that has functional groups representative of both ethersand phenols. Phenols often show antibacterial properties. Triclosan is only slightly soluble in water, but soluble in ethanol, methanol, diethyl ether, and strongly basic solutions.

Triclosan is present in soaps (0.10-1.00%), deodorants, toothpastes, mouth washes, and cleaning supplies, and is incorporated into an increasing number of consumer products, such as kitchen utensils, toys, bedding, socks, and trash bags. Its also found in the health care setting in surgical scrubs and personnel handwashes. Triclosan has been shown to be effective in reducing and controlling bacterial contamination on the hands and on treated products.

Triclosan is used mainly in antiperspirants/deodorants, cleansers, and hand sanitizers as a preservative and an anti-bacterial agent. In addition to cosmetics, triclosan is also used as an antibacterial agent in laundry detergent, facial tissues, and antiseptics for wounds, as well as a preservative to resist bacteria, fungus, mildew and odors in other household products that are sometimes advertized as "anti-bacterial." These products include garbage bags, toys, linens, mattresses, toilet fixtures, clothing, furniture fabric, and paints. Triclosan also has medical applications.
