Calcium hypochlorite is a chemical compound with formula Ca(ClO)2. It is widely used for water treatment and as a bleaching agent (bleaching powder). This chemical is considered to be relatively stable and has greater available chlorine than sodium hypochlorite(liquid bleach).Calcium hypochlorite is used for the disinfection of drinking water or swimming pool water. It is used as a sanitizer in outdoor swimming pools in combination with a cyanuric acid stabilizer, which reduces the loss of chlorine due to ultraviolet radiation. The calcium content hardens the water and tends to clog up some filters; hence, some products containing calcium hypochlorite also contain anti-scaling agents.Calcium hypochlorite is also an ingredient in bleaching powder, used for bleaching cotton and linen. It is also used in bathroom cleaners, household disinfectant sprays, moss and algae removers, and weedkillers.In addition, calcium hypochlorite may be used to manufacture chloroform.Bleaching powder is used also in sugar industry for bleaching sugar cane juice before its crystallization.

Monoethylene Glycol (MEG) is a colorless, virtually odorless and slightly viscous liquid. It is miscible with water, alcohols, aldehydes and many organic compounds. MEG will not dissolve rubber, cellulose acetate or heavy vegetable and petroleum oils. MEG has a low volatility and it is 50% more hygroscopic than glycerol at room temperature.Mono Ethylene Glycol (MEG) is the most widely used chemical from the Glycol family. It is an essential raw material for Polyester fibres and Polyethylene Terephthalate (PET) polymer. MEG based products are also used as coolants in Automobile antifreeze, resins, humectants for / paper etc.
MEG can be transported in Epoxy coated MS tankers. It can be stored in MS containers lined with baked phenolic resin / air drying epoxy phenolic resin or vinyl resin. It is advisable to store MEG in a cool, dry place with good ventilation - away from heat, sparks or flames.

Calcite is a calcium carbonate media. Acidic waters will slowly dissolve the calcium carbonates to raise the pH which reduces the potential of copper, lead and other metals found in typical pluming systems. Backwashing will prevent packing, reclassify the bed and maintain high service rates. Depending upon pH, water chemistry and service flow rate, your calcite filter will have to be periodically replenished as the calcite is depleted.
As calcite’s, calcium carbonate neutralizes the water, it will increase hardness and a softener may be required.
